Fall on the Farm

It’s been such a long time since I’ve posted a blog entry!  I thought that once Summer was over, our lives would slow down, but I was definitely mistaken!  Life has been crazy between chasing a very active toddler, projects at work ramping up, all of the Fall and Holiday time activities, as well as picking up some new photography clients!  It’s hard to believe it’s November already!  This year is flying by so quickly, so this weekend, Aaron and I both cleared our calendars and spent some much-needed family time just relaxing and enjoying time outdoors.  Aaron’s grandmother and uncle both have farms just North of us.  He has many fond memories of visiting the farm growing up, and it’s a real thrill for him to be able to share such a special place with Nola.  The scenery out there is just breathtaking – I know I’ll be back many times to take advantage of this gorgeous Fall weather and stunning light in those picturesque settings!

Nola is getting to such a fun stage – I feel like I’ve said that about every new stage, but this one has by far been such a trip!  Her personality is just hilarious – she’s always trying to do goofy things to make us laugh!  She LOVED getting to romp around in all the crunchy leaves out at the farm and the nature preserve nearby

With as much time as our family spends outdoors, and the full range of seasons we have in Iowa, I’m so thankful that I took the plunge a couple years ago and invested in a couple pairs of Hunter boots.  If you’ve been on the fence about buying a pair – DO IT!  They’re well worth the investment.  Mine are at least 2 years old and still look and feel brand new!  They were the perfect choice for exploring the farm – wading in creeks, stepping through all the tall grasses and fields, and climbing through uneven terrain.  They’ve also become my g0-to boots for walking Paige in the snow, and now on photo shoots as well!  Any advantage to get the shot!  I love how versatile they are too – I can pair them with a dress, jeans and a sweater or vest, or with a lace top and a cardigan like this tank from Anthropologie, and cocoon sweater from Urban Outfitters
Tank: Anthropologie – Similar | Sweater: Similar | Jeans: AG The Legging Ankle Jean | Boots: Hunter
There’s no telling how long this beautiful Fall weather will last, so we’re taking advantage of every moment we can!  Hope this means we’re in for a mild Winter, but after so many years in the Midwest, I’ve learned not to get my hopes up!
